Today’s Forays in Facebook Philosophy, 2018-9-10

Before getting to my notifications, I saw in my feed a post from Abdullah Sameer, whom I admire. A commenter tried shame Abdullah, and, instead of letting him have both barrels, I merely pointed out deficiencies in his reasoning, and offered ways to improve.

The fallacies involved were implied Ad Hominem, and Hasty Generalization. My rebuttal was in explaining his need for more data.

From my notifications, I found a reply from Sadiq Ali Dhuka, that told me the purpose of his previous replies, which merely consisted of quotes from the Qur’an. With that, I could give a counter-argument on the applicability of these ayyat.

The fallacy involved was False Attribution. I employed an Argument from Analogy, and demonstrated avoidance of Argument from Fallacy.
