Edward Bulwer-Lytton said, “The pen is mightier than the sword”, but Mao Zedong said, “power comes from the barrel of a gun”.
They were BOTH telling the truth, but neither told the WHOLE Truth.
Communication IS more powerful than violence, but its effects unfold more slowly, because they are on our recalcitrant minds hindered by cognitive biases, while the latter has nearly instantaneous effects upon our bodies, causing physical damage, and mental trauma, to BOTH of the perpetrator and the victim.
Sometimes, BOTH tools are required, but it is more conducive to Health and Peace to resort to Communication.
